Muscat: With cold and chilly weather dominating Friday morning, Oman experienced rain showers across the capital and other parts of the Sultanate.
High wind speeds and low cloud cover were recorded across most of Oman's governorates, according to Oman's meteorology department. In addition, their latest wind forecast, posted on Twitter at 10:30 am this morning, predicted northwesterly winds and fresh rain.
Residents in the nation, though, had been warned about the inclement weather that was to arrive, as early as Wednesday. At The Wave in Seeb, for example, a notice, asking all community members to secure their homes, was issued.
"Kindly be informed that strong winds and rain are expected from Friday, February 3rd. Official weather forecasts indicate that this bad weather will continue till Saturday," it said. "For your safety abd to avoid damage to your home, we ask you to ensure that all loose garden and balcony items such as chairs, tables, umbrellas, satellite dishes and toys are securely stored. Please also make sure water drains are clear of obstruction.
"We advise all community members to avoid driving during these adverse conditins and to be vigilant while outside their homes. We recommend that all pets are kept indoors," it added.
This is the second time in the space of a week that Oman has received rainfall. Last week, showers in the country caused flooding of wadis and accidents across many major roadways in the Sultanate.
