Muscat: The Department of Culture, Sports and Youth in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate launched the “Poetry of the Omani Arts Sung in the Sultanate of Oman” competition in the arts of 'Al-Razha and Al-Midan'.
The competition targets poets and those interested in the Omani arts sung across the Sultanate's governorates.
Humaid bin Khalfan Al Harithi, Assistant Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Youth in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, said: "This competition comes within the framework of existing cooperation between the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and the cultural and literary bodies in the Sultanate of Oman. It aims to encourage poets of popular poetry to preserve the popular heritage in the Omani arts sung through selected poetic phrases. In addition to documenting the lyrics of sung popular poetry in a way that preserves its status and authenticity as it has been known since ancient times."
Al Harithi pointed out that the competition is divided into- the poetry of the art of Razha and the Al-Midan. The text of the participating poem must be related to Oman and specific to the glorious 53rd National Day.
