Muscat: Visitors to Muscat International Airport will be greeted by new paintings installed as part of the efforts to give the airport a more vibrant look as also to promote Omani artists.

Three paintings by artist Alia Al Farsi have been installed in the Primeclass Lounge and come from her ‘Voyager’ series.

Her main artwork, ‘Nations and Tribes’, is at the centre of the display area and celebrates the spirit of diversity and connectivity, so peculiar to international airports. The other two paintings, ‘Habta 1’ and ‘Habta 2’, shed light on the Eid habta, a traditional marketplace that is part of the heritage of Oman and has been preserved by generations and have been part of practices handed down from parents to their offspring.

The ‘Voyager’ collection also includes a selected range of merchandise from Alia Gallery’s gift shop. Visitors to the lounge can also buy hand-painted travel bags and chairs, if they wish to.

Speaking on the occasion, Alia Al Farsi, founder of Alia Gallery said: “I am pleased to share my art with the visitors at Primeclass Lounge. We hope to continue bringing up unique projects and collaborations with this prominent brand to celebrate Omani art and add value to the tourism sector in Oman.”

Alia Al Farsi will also take part in the coming Venice Biennale in May 2022. Her work is sourced from the ineffable belief in the need to explore inner beauty and to help project it to discerning viewers.

She has held solo exhibitions in Tokyo, Seoul, Paris and Brussels and exhibited with similar-minded artists in Stockholm, Berlin, Shanghai, Abu Dhabi, and Geneva amongst many exhibitions over the past 20 years and in over 20 countries.

The event was also attended by Samer Al Nabhani, chief commercial Officer of Oman Airports and Aylin Alpay, chief marketing officer of TAV Operation Services.

A statement from Oman Airports said, “Oman Airports hosts a collection of Omani artist Alia Al Farsi’s works, which will be displayed at the Primeclass lounge throughout the year.”
