World Book Day, also known as  International Day of the Book, an annual event organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to promote reading, publishing, and copyright is a few weeks away. Celebrated on April 23 this day about celebrating the wonderful power of books and the joy of reading. It’s especially meant to help encourage a love of reading in children, but people of all ages can recognize and celebrate the day.

In Oman owing to the rising cases of COVID-19, the night lockdown has been implemented and why not use this time to immerse oneself in the world of books. Reading is therapeutic and  in these stressful times it is all the more helpful to calm your mind. While you can read your favourite paperback book while sipping tea there are few free online platforms where you can read and choose from hundreds of digital books.
Project Gutenberg, a volunteer-run effort to digitize and preserve books has most of the titles available on the platform.

The Online Books Page has a list of over three million free ebooks.  Kindle Store has  free books. All you need to do is search for  “Free Books” on the Kindle store, you’ll find over 80,000 results. If you visit BookBub,  sign up for a free account and you will get links to free books on a regular basis. and newly discounted books that have been curated according to your preferences. How easy is that?
