Muscat: The Ministry of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources, represented by the Department of Fisheries Development in the Wilayat of Seeb, is currently working on shifting to the new fish market in the wilayat of Seeb which is nearing completion.

Ibrahim bin Abdullah Al-Qurtubi, Director of the Fisheries Development Department in the Wilayat of Seeb, said in a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), "The construction of the market, which is located inside the fishing port, has reached an advanced rate and is nearing completion. It will provide facilities for a number of traditional professions related to the fish trade, as it consists of two floors and includes several service facilities, the most prominent of which is a daily auction hall , retail places and fish shops."

"The fishing port, which has an area of 1,278,868 square meters, contains a number of government and service facilities, including the Fish Quality Control Department of the Ministry of Agricultural and Fisheries Wealth and Water Resources, maintenance workshops for the engines of boats and ships, three floating berths of 35 meters long and a fixed berth of 145 meters for unloading fish."

"The number of fishermen in the Wilayat of Seeb reached 1,500, and the number of fishing boats has reached more than 600," the statement added.
