Reception for Pakistan tour group organised

Muscat: Ali Javed, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the Sultanate has hosted a diplomatic reception at Pakistan House for a group of ambassadors, military officers and other civil officials who are touring the Sultanate.
Major General Asim Malik, Chief Instructor War Wing, National Defence University (NDU) of Pakistan led the ‘Foreign Study Tour’ to the Sultanate.
The group comprised of 21 members and included armed forces officers from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sri Lanka and Nigeria as well as civil bureaucrats from Pakistan.
The reception saw 150 guests, including numerous ambassadors, mingling with members of Omani civil society including journalists, writers, historians, professors, law professionals, intellectuals, top executives and government officials.
Representatives of Pakistan and Sultan Armed Forces and a wide range of Pakistani businessmen and professionals were also present. Dr. Mohammed Al Zadjali, the Chairman of Oman Lawyers Association was guest of honour for the evening. Solidarity with Pakistan Armed Forces and support for Pakistan - Oman Friendship day was expressed by the presence of groups of Pakistani Pashtun-Baloch leaders, Pakistanis with Hindu faith and retired
The reception was organised in partnership with 16 ‘Partners of Pakistan Day’, consisting of local businesses both large and small established by Pakistanis after migrating to Oman, representing their success stories and celebrating His Majesty’s generous hospitality and the excellent conditions enjoyed by the 272,000 Pakistanis in the Sultanate.
Later, the delegates paid a courtesy call on General Ahmed bin Harith bin Nassir Al Nabhani, Chief of Staff , Sultanate Armed Forces, bringing greetings from his counterpart General Zubair Mahmood Hayat, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee.
During their 4-day stay, the delegates visited and were briefed on the Sultanate Armed Forces and national institutions including State and Shura Councils (Houses of Parliament), National Defence College (NDC) and Special Economic Zone Duqm (SEZAD).
While cooperation and exchanges between NDU & NDC have been going on for decades, both institutes, the leading seats of learning for national, military and defence strategy, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to further exchanges during the visit.
