More than 1000 arrested in Oman for this reason

Muscat: More than 1,000 expat workers have been arrested and another 569 have been deported within a week for violating Labour Laws, Oman's Ministry of Manpower has announced.

The workers were arrested between March 15 and 21, 2019, the Ministry revealed in its weekly indicators of expat workers who were arrested through a joint operation.

During that period, 1,077 expats were arrested, of the total violators, 548 were “freelance” workers, 454 had left their jobs, and 75 workers were referred to by other agencies.

Muscat, recorded the highest number of arrests with 753, followed by Northern Al Batinah with 75.

Meanwhile, the Ministry deported 102 workers, "As a result of violating the provisions of the Labour Law," officials said.
