Toobi takes part in climate change meet in Poland

Muscat: Assigned by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said, Mohammed bin Salim Al Toobi, Minister of Environment and Climate Affairs has participated in the opening of the 24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP24), being held in Katowice city in Poland.
The activities of COP24 come as a vital event held in Poland with the participation of 30,000 personalities representing some 200 countries besides the presidents, prime ministers and representatives of the various environmental organisations.
The conference represents a roadmap for implementing the new world climate change convention agreed upon in 2015, in Paris, which will take effect from 2020.
The Sultanate has ratified the Paris Convention on Climate Change in 2016. The number of countries signing the convention stood at 194 besides the EU in July 2018.
