Cricket: Rahul set to umpire ICC WCL 3 games in Oman

MUSCAT: Senior umpire from Oman Rahul Asher has been appointed by International Cricket Council to supervise matches in World Cricket League (WCL) Division Three being held here from November 9 to 19.
Having represented Oman at various ACC and ICC events, Rahul is pleased to do his first international assignment at home.
“I am hugely grateful to ICC and Oman Cricket (OC) for their continued trust and support. Since Oman is my base, I always feel at home umpiring matches on our home grounds,” said Rahul.
“International tournaments give you great exposure to the cricket world and it has always been my aim to maintain high standards of professionalism, positive attitude and leadership in all aspects of the game at every level,” he added.
When asked what is his dream as an umpire, Rahul said: “I want to grow as an umpire so that I can be included in the ICC Elite panel and all international events give me an opportunity to get closer to this goal.”
The senior umpire from Oman said WCL 3 provided him another occasion to apply his skills and offer the best possible performance in each match he was given to officiate.
In his previous major assignments, Rahul had officiated in the ACC Under-16 Elite Cup 2014 in Qatar, ICC World Cricket League Asia Qualifiers in April 2017 in Thailand and ICC Under-19 World Cup Qualifiers in July 2017 in Singapore.
Joining Oman Cricket’s efforts to groom good umpires, Rahul assisted A. R. Srinivasan, ICC-Asia certified Umpire Educator, in the first ever Level I umpiring course conducted by Oman in August 2016.
