Cricket: Balushi brothers inspire OCT Seeb to victory

MUSCAT: Brothers Yousuf Al Balushi and Issa Al Balushi carried OCT Seeb to a comfortable 36-run win against Basta CT in a B Division clash at Muscat Municipality ground 2 on Friday.
Batting first, OCT Seeb piled up 201 before being all out in the last over thanks to Yousuf’s brilliant 83 off 52 and Issa’s 37-ball 48. Shiba Said bowled well to claim 4 for 24 while Prasad Peruli and Nazish Mohammed took 3 and 2 wickets respectively.
Basta could not really pose a serious challenge to OCT Seeb and folded up for 165 in the 28th over. Murad Khan (46 off 36) and Nazish Mohammed (37 off 33 ) were the main scorers. Yousuf impressed with the ball too, taking 3 for 11 while Issa and Younis Murad picked up two wickets each.

Shihab Said 4-24, Prasad Peruli 3-30, Nazish Mohammed 2-37) defeated Basta CT 165 all out in 27.3 overs (Murad Khan 46 – 4x4, 1x6, Nazish Mohammed 37 – 1x4, 1x6. Yousuf Al Balushi 3-11, Issa Al Balushi 2-28, Younis Murad 2-28) by 36 runs.
Al Mada win
Shameer Kariadan’s 5 for 33 and Shahil Mohammed’s superb 70 powered Al Mada Engineering to an emphatic 49 runs victory against MCCC New at Muscat Municipality ground 2.
Al Mada was dismissed for 165 in the 24th over despite Shahil’s fluent fifty. Swastic Moolya bagged 4 for 30 while Sidhh Mehta claimed two wickets.
MCCC New failed to rise to the occasion, folding up for 116 in 23 overs due to brilliant bowling by Shameer.
Brief scores: Al Mada Engineering 165 all out in 23.1 overs (Shahil Mohammed 70 – 8x4. Swastik Moolya 4-30, Sidhh Mehta 2-29) trounced MCCC New 116 all out in 23 overs (Berry 26 – 4x4. Shameer Kariadan 5-33, Rajesh Shetty 2-24) by 49 runs.
Pradeesh shines for QBG
Pradeesh Prasanna’s all-round brilliance steered Qurum Business Group (QBG) to an exciting 7-run win over OCT Al Hail in a C Division game at Muscat Municipality ground 1 on Friday.
Chasing a target of 156 to win, OCT Al Hail was restricted to 148 for 7 thanks to impressive spells by Nousad Haneefa and Pradeesh who both claimed three wickets each. Faris Said batted well for QBG, scoring 45-ball 54.
Brief scores: QBG 155 for 9 in 20 overs (Shifan Mohammed 37 – 3x4, Pradeesh Prasanna 30 – 1x4, 1x6. Hisam Shafi 3-24) beat OCT Al Hail 148 for 7 in 20 overs (Faris Said Al Zedjali 54 – 7x4. Nousad Haneefa 3-16, Pradeesh Prasanna 3-33) by 7 runs.
Aptus win thriller
Aptus CT registered a final-over nail-biting victory against Khalsa United in a D Division clash at the same venue.
Khalsa scored 151 for 6 in 20 overs thanks to Shreerang Trivedi’s unbeaten 47. Prashamit Barua and Muhammed Parvez contributed 36 and 35 respectively. Aptus surpassed the total in the final over, scoring 152 for 7. Vijesh Latha scored 34 while Suraj Raj chipped in with vital 26. Yasar Abdul Latif bagged three wickets.
