Oman, UK share views at joint working group meeting

Muscat: The 14th round of the Omani-British Joint Working Group was held at the Foreign Ministry on Sunday under the chair of Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi, Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry from the Omani side and Alistair Burt, Minister of State for the Middle East at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office from the British side.
The meeting covered the friendship and constructive cooperation between the Sultanate and the UK in political, economic and cultural fields.
They stressed the keenness of both sides to develop and enhance business, tourism and investment ties. The two sides shared views on regional and global issues of common interest and their keenness to continue working to reach political consensus for these issues through dialogue to achieve peace and security and create an atmosphere of understanding and harmony.
The visit coincides with the joint Omani-British military exercise (Swift Sword 3). It was attended from the Omani side by Sheikh Yahya bin Abdullah Al Fannah Al Araimi, Head of the Economic Affairs Sector at the Foreign Ministry, Khalid bin Hashil Al Meselhi, Head of the Secretary General Office Department and Sheikh Badr bin Mohammed Al Hinai, Head of West Europe Department whilst it was attended from the British side by Hamish Cowell, UK Ambassador to Oman and officials from both sides.
