Salalah Tourism Festival to kick off on Tuesday

Salalah: Activities of the Salalah Tourism Festival 2018 will kick off on Tuesday. They will continue for 47 days until August 25.
Sheikh Salim bin Oufait Al Shanfri, Head of Dhofar Municipality, Head of the Organising Committee of Salalah Tourism Festival affirmed during a press conference held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Salalah on Sunday that the all facilities were completed as planned for this year's festival.
He also noted that the Municipality Recreational Centre was ready to host the event and receive festival visitors, thanks to the continuous efforts of the Dhofar Municipality following the recent tropical cyclone, which affected public facilities within the centre.
He added that Dhofar Municipality has established five new halls of international standard, for exhibitions for public and private organisations, as well as the Municipality Recreational Centre.
Sheikh Al Shanfri added that this year’s festival will include a range of religious, economic, cultural, social, sports, art and recreational events. New events will also be introduced alongside the successful events that have been organising in the previous years.
The Head of Dhofar Municipality, Head of the Organising Committee said that Salalah Tourism Festival will organise an event on 23 July to mark the Renaissance Day.
He stressed the keenness of the festival management to set up cultural events, such as the sixth version of the Holy Quran Memorisation Contest, photography and fine arts competitions, which will be held for the first time. A mass theatre competition will also be organised.
Sheikh Al Shanfri also pointed out that the Cultural Village wold continue to organise competitions among the wilayats, with the wilayats of Al Mudhaibi, Ja’alan Bani Bu Ali, Sumail, Maqshan, Al Awabi, Ibri, Bausher, Sohar, Al Mazyouna and Thumrait taking part.
He also spoke about planned events such as the Salalah Tourism Festival Cup and the shooting competition and marathon, in addition to the Salalah International Football competition in which Al Gharafa Club from Qatar, Al Isamili Club from Egypt, Al Safaqsi Club from Tunisia and Al Nasr Club from Oman will take part.
