Oman's share index ends marginally higher

Muscat: The MSM30 index ended higher on Wednesday and closed at 4576.73 points, up by 0.14 per cent. MSM Sharia Index closed at 660.43 points, up by 0.38 per cent. Galfar Engineering was the most active in terms of volume while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer of the day was Gulf Investment Services, up by 4.17 per cent, while Oman Qatar Insurance, down 4.35 per cent, was the top loser of the day.
A total number of 439 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR1.32 million with more than 8.04 million shares changing hands. Out of 39 traded stocks, 15 advanced, 6 declined and 18 remained unchanged. At the session close, GCC & Arab investors were net sellers for OMR241,000 worth of shares followed by Foreign Investors the for OMR110,000, while Omani investors were net buyers for OMR352,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index gained 0.24 per cent to close at 7067.19 points. Gulf Investment Services, Al Madina Takaful, NBO and HSBC Bank Oman were up by 4.17 per cent, 2 per cent, 1.71 per cent and 0.88 per cent respectively. Oman Qatar Insurance, Bank Nizwa and Sharqiya Investments were down by 4.35 per cent, 1.09 per cent and 0.86 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index gained 0.89 per cent to close at 6108.92 points. Al Anwar Ceramics, Oman Fisheries, National Aluminium, and Galfar Engineering were up by 2.8 per cent, 2.73 per cent, 2.29 per cent and 1.83 per cent respectively. There were no losers on Wednesday.
Services Sector Index gained 0.37 per cent to close at 2,471.78 points. Al Batinah Power, Al Suwadi Power, Sohar Power and Ooredoo were up by 3.57 per cent, 3.51 per cent, 0.89 per cent and 0.38 per cent respectively. Muscat Desalination, Omantel, and Renaissance services were down by 0.68 per cent, 0.53 per cent and 0.48 per cent respectively.
