Muscat: Supporters at Muscat Grand Mall gathered to send off the Ooredoo team of volunteers, as they set off for their second leg of the annual voyage, to the north of the country.
Once there, volunteers will open a new Ooredoo incubator in Al Sinanah Women’s Centre. The incubator will focus on sewing, cooking and computing. They will then travel on to Liwa, Al Musannah and Sohar, where a sporting activity will be held. From there, the volunteers will visit Al Rustaq, Izki and conclude their first week at Samail and Bidbid between June 3 and 7.
Raed Mohammed Dawood, director of Government Relations and Corporate Affairs at Ooredoo said, “We are very proud of the aid provided by our volunteers in Salalah last week and we know our team will achieve great things in this next chapter of the Journey. Our newly formed partnership with the Ministry of Social Development has provided us with a list of 60 families in need to receive essential donations, and we will be refurbishing three homes. This year, we are particularly excited to expand on the focus of women’s skills to now include everybody with Ooredoo’s free Digital Tutorial App. This will comprise the educational material for children from Grades I to XII in English language and software and, for the first time, a literacy course. Available to all, we are confident that this initiative will not only help students but all Omanis looking to learn.”
Arriving in Liwa, on June 4, the Ooredoo volunteers will make a donation to the Al Wafa Rehabilitation Centres for Disabled Children. The gift includes the distribution of essential equipment to help improve the quality of life of children with special needs and will include various speech tools and mobility devices. Afterwards, volunteers will have some sports activities in Sohar with the local clubs. On the third day, the Goodwill Journey will arrive in Al Musannah, to renovate and furnish the final three houses. While there, the Ooredoo team will visit the local incubator, which was responsible for successfully training over 400 women, of which 29 have already launched their own businesses.

I look forward to meeting all the families, individuals and organisations, as well as making a positive impact on their lives and mine. After all, this is the essence of Ramadan.”
Established in 2005, Ooredoo’s Goodwill Journey was launched in order to boost the sustainable development of local communities across Oman. Volunteers from the company provide essential vocational skills workshops and educational equipment, supplies, and materials to directly impact the communities. So far, the initiative has helped over 171 groups and over 140,000 people across Oman.
