17 restaurants closed, dozens fined in Oman

Muscat: Over a dozen eateries have been closed this year for failing food standard protocols, according to a statement by Ad Dakhiliyah Municipalities.
Nine hundred and forty fice (945) inspection campaigns of food facilities were carried out by the Samaeel Municipality in Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate since the beginning of 2017, officials revealed.
Inspection visits resulted in the closure of 17 unhealthy institutions, while a further 238 institutions were temporarily closed by the municipality in Samaeel until conditions were improved.
The municipality asked all merchants and suppliers to abide by the provisions of the Consumer Protection Law and its executive regulations to avoid legal proceedings.
