Muscat: With the aim of reducing maintenance costs in the lighting networks, Muscat Municipality is planning to introduce an “intelligent central system for the lighting network” in the governorate of Muscat.
A total of 40 electrical grids have been installed to monitor and retrieve information.
Ziyad Al Zadjali, Director of Lighting Department at Muscat Municipality, said: "This step will introduce a modern concept for managing street lights through a simulation system that will track all lighting complexes in Muscat Governorate. This system will monitor performance and will send information to know the state of the lighting network. In the event of any malfunction, the specialists will go directly to the site, which in return will shorten the time required for maintenance.”
