Oman tennis: Fatma Al Nabhani marches ahead in Egypt

Muscat: Omani star Fatma Al Nabhani eased into the second round of the singles competition in the $15,000 ITF Pro Circuit Cairo tournament in Egypt on Wednesday.
A day after booking a place in the doubles quarterfinals in the company of Egypt’s Sandra Samir, Fatma brushed aside the challenge of local qualifier Rowan Arafat in their singles first round match.
Fatma conceded just two games on her way to a 6-1, 6-1 win over Rowan.
In the second round, Fatma will take on Italian Valeria Prosperi, who overcame American Akiko Okuda 3-6, 7-6 (6), 6-1 in a battle of qualifiers.
In the doubles quarterfinals, Fatma and Sandra are scheduled to play German duo of Karolina Kowall and Dana Kremer.
The Omani-Egyptian duo had reached the last eight stage after Petia Arshinko of Bulgaria and Serbian Bojana Marinkovic 6-4, 7-6 (6) on Tuesday.
