Muscat: Ferry services will resume as per schedule, an official of the National Ferries Company (NFC) said.
The NFC had cancelled some trips until Sunday following inclement weather.
Among the ferry services that were cancelled were those between Muscat and Khasab on January 5, Khasab-Muscat on January 7, Khasab-Lima-Khasab on January 5, Shinas-Dibba-Khasab on January 5 and Khasab-Dibba-Shinas on January 7.
Khasab and Muscat
“The service between Khasab and Muscat will become operational on January 12 as per the schedule,” the official added.
“The rest of the services will continue as scheduled,” the official added.
Late Friday night, the Oman Meteorology Department had predicted low visibility, caused by dust winds entering Oman from the Oman Sea side.
In its weather advisory, the department also predicted chances of fog formation along the coastal areas of South Al Sharqiya, Al Wusta and Dhofar. During the last one week, thick fog had enveloped many parts of northern Oman.
Fog
Visibility was down to less than 1,000 metres due to fog last Wednesday in the coastal areas of the Oman Sea, Buraimi, Dhahira, Wusta and South Sharqiyah governorates during night and till early morning. The heavy fog disrupted traffic in Barka, Khabourah, Saham, Musanah and Sohar this week, according to the Royal Oman Police (ROP).
The ROP cautioned motorists to drive safely. The cold spell in Oman brought the mercury to 6 degrees Celsius in parts of the Hajar mountain range.
Temperatures in Muscat and Seeb hovered between 25 and 19 degrees Celsius.
