Oman Qatar Insurance unveils retail online platform

Muscat: Oman Qatar Insurance Company (OQIC), a subsidiary of Qatar Insurance Group, on Monday launched an online retail platform, www.qic-insured.com, along with its revamped website www.oqic.com.
With the new online retail platform, customers will now be able to renew or purchase car and travel insurance (home insurance purchase and renewal to be available at a later stage) just with the click of a button.
“OQIC’s successful operation in Muscat for over a decade underlines that our personal insurance business through our traditional branch distribution channel has been and is very successful. In 2015 for example, OQIC insured in excess of 70,000 motor vehicles and settled in excess of 5,000 claims. However, the changes in the competitive landscape in the personal insurance marketplace over the last few years have made it clear that there was a gap which will now be filled with the new online platforms,” said Ewen McRobbie, chief executive officer of OQIC.
“The revamped digital platform will augment OQIC’s online portal that will add an online distribution channel to deliver secure, modern and innovative solutions to help customers make their insurance purchasing experience simple, quick and easy. We have revolutionised our personal insurance offerings by making them directly available to individual customers with a strong focus on convenience,” he added.
Global standards
“Customers are increasingly becoming tech-savvy with their preferences rapidly changing to match the evolution of smart technology. Being a customer-driven segment, we are committed to providing new, innovative channels that meet the evolving needs of customers. With the introduction of our online channels, we aim to create a seamless engagement with our customers by providing a new level of convenience of purchasing/renewing personal insurance from anywhere, at any time,” noted the chief executive officer.
“Besides having an in-depth knowledge of Oman’s insurance marketplace, our underwriters have a deep understanding of the day to day insurance needs of customers. This ensures that we provide the best insurance solution keeping in mind customers’ preferences and their convenience at all times,” said Hamad Al Musallami, head for motor insurance at OQIC.
Frederik Bisbjerg, executive vice president and head of group retail for Qatar Insurance said, “Our customer knowledge reveals that one of the determining factors when choosing an insurance company for you and your family’s insurances is, apart from a cheap price the ease of buying and renewing insurance with the insurance company. An important part of the new online retail portal is therefore offering the customers the opportunity to buy and renew both the mandatory third party liability insurance as well as the extended own damage insurance online.”
“We’re very proud to offer a very unique online platform where customers can manage all their personal insurances; no need to call or visit our branches; all can be managed online,” noted Frederik
OQIC’s online retail platform helps potential customers ‘window-shop’ while browsing for the best insurance deals in Oman, in less than a minute, without having to disclose any personal information. Visitors can receive quick quotes and purchase or renew car or travel insurance — be it a transfer from another insurance company or a brand new policy purchase or renewal
All is done seamlessly and without the need to contact OQIC directly – of course the call centre is ready to help if needed and the branches are open for customer service too.
