China’s first industrial project coming up in Sohar

Muscat: Changbao Oman Oil Pipe, the first Chinese industrial project in Sohar Free Zone, laid its foundation stone on Monday.
The ground breaking ceremony was attended by officials from Petroleum Development Oman, Oil Country Tubular Goods distributors, Sohar Port and Free Zone, Oman Arab Bank, project consultants and contractors.
Cao Jian, chairman of board of directors of Changbao Group, the largest steel tube manufacturer in China for the energy industry, delivered a welcoming speech at the ceremony.
Founded in 1958 and publicly traded in China's Shenzhen Stock Market, Changbao Group leads the industry in supplying quality seamless steel tubes for oil fields and boiler companies.
Changbao Oman Oil Pipe will be guided by its company's corporate values, respond to the ICV policies put forward by the Omani government, and build it to be the best factory in the Sultanate, said Cao.
The project is expected to be operational in mid-2017.
