The fifth match of the T Quiz League Season 1 brought Indian School Wadi Kabir (ISWK) face-to-face with Philippines School Oman (PSO) in an engaging battle of wits. Hosted at Downe House Muscat, this episode saw both teams tactically navigating through challenging questions, particularly during the Testing Times round, where categories like "Che-mysterious" and "Answer is a letter" demanded sharp strategic thinking.
Indian School Wadi Kabir was represented by Juan, Siddharth, and Chinmay, under the guidance of coaches Ms. Gurjinder Kaur and Ms. Jenisha Joseph. On the other side, Philippines School Oman fielded a team comprising Reyelalyn, Dale, and Eros, coached by Ms. Magnolia Gabriel. Each question required quick recall and a solid understanding of diverse topics.
Challenging Questions Put Teams to the Test
The match included thought-provoking questions that spanned a wide range of subjects. For instance, participants were asked to name a word that means "single sugar," including glucose and fructose, which are the simplest form of carbohydrates. The answer, "monosaccharide," tested the teams' knowledge of basic chemistry.
Another question brought focus to a recent global event: "The film Thirteen Lives is about a young football team who was miraculously rescued from a flooded cave. In which country did this real-life event take place?" The correct answer, "Thailand," called for awareness of 2010s events.
The teams were also quizzed on local knowledge: "Which arterial street in Muscat, called Route 1, is one of the first main highways of the country?" The answer, "Sultan Qaboos Street," challenged their understanding of Oman’s infrastructure.
Special Guest and Upcoming Matches
The students and the Times of Oman Quiz team were happy to meet Ms. Alex Hands, Deputy Head Pastoral from Cheltenham Muscat, who made a special appearance to present a round of questions in Round 2. Viewers can look forward to the upcoming match featuring Cheltenham Muscat vs Lycée Français International De Mascate, which will be aired next week.
