Muscat: A new day club has opened in Muscat, specifically designed to cater to the needs of the elderly population from various governorates. The club aims to enhance the quality of life for senior citizens by providing a comfortable and entertaining environment, fostering social interactions, and improving mental health.
Key features and goals of the club:
Social interaction: Creating opportunities for elderly individuals to connect with peers and form new friendships.
Mental health: Offering psychological support and activities to reduce isolation and depression.
Physical well-being: Providing physical programs and activities to maintain fitness and overall health.
Comprehensive care: Ensuring daily care services and addressing basic health needs.
Education and awareness: Organising workshops and lectures on healthy nutrition and chronic disease management.
The founder, Aisha bint Nasser Al-Afifi, was inspired by personal experiences and a recognised need for such a service in the community. She hopes to expand the club's offerings in the future to include day care, home care, and continuing education programmes.
She told the Oman News Agency: "The idea of the initiative came to provide an outlet for the elderly, especially during the day, and to integrate and communicate with members of society in their environment and social surroundings, and to provide care and attention to them, and to fill their free time with what benefits them and benefits them through health and psychological programs to reduce the psychological effects associated with aging. "
Overall, the day club represents a significant step forward in providing care and support for the elderly population in the Sultanate of Oman.
