Royal Navy of Oman marks induction of new vessel into fleet

Muscat: The Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) held a ceremony to induct the state-of-the-art Khasab vessel into its fleet.
The celebration was carried out under the patronage of Air Vice Marshal Matar bin Ali al Obaidani in the presence of Rear Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis al Raisi, RNO commanders and senior military officials.
The participants examined the vessel, which is equipped with modern facilities. The induction of the new vessel will help improve modernisation and development strategy of the navy. According to the Royal Directives aimed at boosting the Omani fleet, ‘Horizon’ project has been carried out to bolster navy in the Sultanate.
Khasab, which is equipped with the latest radar and maritime systems, is the fourth addition to the project. Brigadier General Abdul Razzaq, who spoke on the occasion, said: “A team of technicians and engineers has been formed to supervise the new project.”
