People urged to donate blood in Oman

Muscat: The Department of Blood Banks Services (DBBS), has urged people to donate blood and platelets because the Central Blood Bank is witnessing a significant decline in the number of donors.

DBBS said in a statement :"The Central Blood Bank has witnessed a significant decrease in the number of blood and platelet donors since the first day of Ramadan. Where 308 donors donated blood and 24 donors donated platelets."

"During the holy month of Ramadan, the Central Blood Bank needs more than 2,700 blood donors and 260 platelet donors. Therefore, we urge everyone to take the initiative to donate blood and donate platelets to meet the needs of patients during this period, "

"The blood donation hours at the Central Blood Bank in Baushar are from Sunday to Thursday, from 8 am to 12.30 pm in morning period and and in the evening period from 7:30 pm to 11:30 pm daily . Please book your appointment to donate blood and platelets via WhatsApp at 94555648," DBBS added.
