Omani diplomats donate blood on World Blood Donors Day

Muscat: The Omani embassies in various countries all over the world and the headquarters of the Foreign Ministry in Muscat today marked the World Blood Donors Day. This move comes as a humanitarian initiative which reflects a deep understanding that goes beyond the usual roles of diplomatic missions and embassies abroad.

Omani diplomats, their families and employees at the Sultanate of Oman’s embassies visited hospitals in the countries of accreditation to donate blood. Foreign Ministry staff have also donated blood through the medical visit of a specialized team from Sultan Qaboos University Hospital.

This humanitarian initiative is part of the Foreign Ministry’s strategy to support the health sector and raise awareness of the importance of blood donation as a humanitarian activity to help meet the increasing demand for blood in hospitals and medical centers around the world.

The blood donation initiative also encourages the Ministry's employees to maximize the value of humanization, selflessness, social responsibility, partnership and the expansion of humanitarian charitable work.

The initiative received good response from the Foreign Ministry’s employees and from the Omani diplomatic missions abroad, and reflected their awareness and the benevolent culture of the Omani society, and their sincere belief in the importance of this humanitarian work.
