Thunderstorms, rainfall expected across Oman :CAA

Muscat: Most governorates of the Sultanate of Oman may witness thunderstorms, associated with strong winds and the possibility of hail on Wednesday, October 25, 2025.

Due to the heavy thunderstorms, associated with strong winds and the possibility of hail, the rainfall is expected in the Governorates of Musandam , North Al Batinah, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahira, South Al Batinah, Muscat,  Al Dakhiliyah, North Al Sharqiyah and South Al Sharqiyah. Highest rainfall is expected to be over Hajar Mountains and adjacent areas, extending to the coast of Oman Sea.

The Civil Aviation Authority advices all to take precautions during thundershowers and not to cross Wadis ( Flash Flood ) and avoid low lying areas and not to sail during alert period.

The expected impacts of thunderstorms :  

 1. Heavy rainfall expected may range between 20-80 mm may cause flash floods (Wadis).

2. Strong downdrafts with speed of 15 to 40 kt (28-74 km/h).

3. Chances of hail.

4. Poor horizontal visibility due to dust storms during thundershowers.
