Muscat: The basic services sector is currently working to restore services in several wilayats of Dhofar Governorate affected by the tropical condition “Tej”.
Engineer Abdullah bin Mubarak Al Hashemi, Coordinator of the Basic Services Sector, said that the field response teams in the sector worked to restore some of the affected services in the wilayats of the Dhofar Governorate, including opening the Hadbin Hasik Road in the Wilayat of Sadah after removing the fallen rocks from it, and the road became passable at the present time.
He stated that the Dhalkut desalination plant stopped working due to heavy rains, and work is currently underway to restart it, and the Barkhiut desalination plant has also been restarted.
He pointed out that power has been restored to most of the wilayats of Dhofar Governorate, and work is underway to restore power in each of the areas of Ardit, Sharshiti, and Shaath in the wilayat of Rakhyut, and the Khadrfi area in the Wilayat of Dhalkut, where the power was partially cut off, and work is underway to restore service there, taking into account security and safety measures.
He stated that the communications network in the states of Dhofar Governorate is operating normally, and 11 communications stations are currently being dealt with in the states of Thumrait, Dhalkut, Rakhyut, the Wilayats of Shalim, and the Halaniyat Islands, which were affected by the tropical condition “Tej.”
He stated that with regard to the fuel aspect, the necessary examination was carried out to ensure the safety of using fuel filling stations, and they are operating normally, with some stations stopping as a result of a power outage. As for the waste aspect, the concerned company works continuously, and stops in the event of heavy rain in order to ensure the safety of the field teams.
