Muscat: The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth (MCSY) has announced the winning youth initiatives for this year, which numbered 84 out of 113 initiatives submitted for competition, represented by 61 initiatives that were fully supported (financially, cognitively, and logistically), and 24 initiatives were supported cognitively and logistically.
The ministry stated that more than 12,000 are expected to benefit from the 84 supported initiatives this year.
Hilal bin Saif Al Siyabi, Director General of the Ministry’s General Directorate of Youth, said: “This aims to support Omani youth by supporting community initiatives and building bridges of cooperation between the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Youth and youth sectors, and paving the way for young people to provide executive solutions in a modern and innovative manner, as well as enabling young people to take a leading role in community and youth service and contributing to qualifying youth to manage initiatives with a high level of professionalism, in addition to creating fruitful competition between youth initiatives.
Al Siyabi explained that the committee to achieve the subsidy set a list of conditions the most important of which is the support request to be submitted by an Omani youth representing a youth initiative, and the electronic form must be filled out that includes: project description, project activities, time period, and location, in addition to having an action plan showing the procedural steps for implementing the project, and that the request for support aims to find a solution to a problem or filling a need or development, and that the goal of the project is developmental and serving the community, and does not include financial profit for the initiative or the initiators, in addition to that the subject of the request for support is one of the goals that the Ministry seeks to achieve and is integrated with its projects, and that the applicant is not an employee of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.
It is noteworthy that the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth seeks to improve and develop youth initiatives by providing support to them, and the Ministry continues to work on issuing a legal regulation for the governance of youth initiatives and establishing a forum for youth initiatives for the second year, as well as establishing a forum for youth initiatives and nominating youth initiatives for internal and external participation. The Ministry also intends to host a forum for youth volunteering at the level of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries very soon.
