Muscat: Youth Centre and Oman LNG signed an agreement to support a package of summer programmes in the Governorate of South Al Sharqiyah. This includes 12 training programmes for the youth in various fields, including specialised technical camps, industrial camps, entrepreneurship programmes, and training programmes in various skills.
The agreement was signed by Eng. Zaid bin Abdullah Al Salmani, Executive Director of the Youth Centre, on the part of the Youth Centre, and on the part of the company, Mohammed bin Juma Al-Mukhaini, Director General of Communications and Community Affairs at the Oman LNG Development Corporation, at the centre's headquarters in Muscat Grand Mall.
His Excellency Dr. Yahya bin Badr Al-Ma’awali, Governor of South Al Sharqiyah, said in a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA) that the agreement represents a real partnership between the Oman LNG Development Corporation and the Youth Centre, which plays a major role in developing the skills of the youth. He noted that the agreement focuses on implementing a package of programmes that aims to build the capabilities of the youth, as it focuses on important sectors, including: agriculture, fisheries, and innovation.
Additionally, His Excellency the Governor of South Al Sharqiyah expressed his hope that the programmes will transform young people from trainees to empowered people to become entrepreneurs in various fields, pointing out that coordination is in place to establish a youth centre in South Al Sharqiyah that is commensurate with the current stage, anticipates the future with its components, and is capable of accommodating various youth programmes according to technological, scientific and knowledge developments.
For his part, Zaid bin Abdullah Al Salmani, Executive Director of the Youth Centre, said in a statement that the signing of the agreement comes within the interest that the Youth Centre attaches to building strategic partnerships with various sectors to develop strategic programmes that ensure the benefit of the youth from various governorates of the Sultanate of Oman.
He added that the programs aim to develop skills and talents to form financial returns for this group, noting that the agreement targets the youth of Sout Al Sharqiyah Governorate to facilitate the centre's access to the governorate.
In the same context, Saeed bin Mohammed Al Harthy, Head of Social Investment Programmes at Oman LNG, explained that the signing of this agreement is part of the programmes that aim to develop competencies within the youth, that the company is funding in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate.
He indicated that the programmes aim to develop the skills and capabilities of young people during the summer period in the use of agricultural and hunting techniques, develop the skills of small and medium enterprises, and train them in free diving, in addition to programmes for safety and cybersecurity measures.
