Muscat: The historic visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik to the State of Qatar will open new horizons of consultation, coordination and cooperation between the two countries.
His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik, Sultan of Oman, paid a historic state visit to the State of Qatar on November 22 and 23, 2021, at the kind invitation of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar.
Oman News Agency (ONA), said in a statement: "A joint statement has been issued today by the Sultanate of Oman and the State of Qatar based on the strong relations and the solid historical ties between the two countries."
His Majesty the Sultan and His Highness the Emir held extensive bilateral talks that reviewed the relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen and develop them in all fields, and included exchanging views on a number of regional and international issues. These discussions reflected the depth of bilateral relations and the congruence of the two countries' positions on regional and international issues, especially the importance of dialogue and diplomacy in addressing all issues of the region.
At the level of bilateral relations, the two sides affirmed the strength of the political will of the leadership in the two countries to advance all aspects of cooperation at all levels. The historic visit of His Majesty the Sultan of Oman to the State of Qatar will open new horizons of consultation, coordination and cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
His Majesty the Sultan and His Highness the Emir lauded the distinguished relations of cooperation and partnership between the two countries in all fields, and affirmed the common desire to cooperate in the field of clean energy, and joint cooperation in exchanging experiences to limit climate change.
The two sides affirmed that the real and diverse opportunities in the two countries constitute a solid basis for strengthening relations, increasing investment opportunities, establishing partnerships, and implementing value-added projects in many sectors and fields. In addition to increasing and diversifying the volume of trade exchange, and strengthening the role of the private sector in order to achieve integration in the interests of the two countries.
The two countries signed an agreement on military cooperation between the respective governments, an agreement to avoid double taxation, an investment cooperation agreement, and a cooperation agreement on investment in the Oman Shipping Company. In addition to a cooperation agreement on investment in the hospitality sector, and a memorandum of understanding in the field of labour and human resource development.
The Sultanate of Oman expressed its pride in Qatar's hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, expressing its confidence in the success of the State of Qatar in organising this major global event in an unprecedented manner, reflecting the region's legacy and great potential.
At the regional and international levels, the two sides agreed on the importance of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf in enhancing the security and stability of the region. They also stressed the need to strengthen consultation and coordinate positions at the bilateral level and in various regional and international forums in order to serve Arab and Islamic causes, support just humanitarian causes, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause, and enhance security and stability in the Middle East and the world at large.
At the conclusion of the visit, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar, expressed his appreciation and pride in this historic visit to His Majesty. His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik , Sultan of Oman, expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to his brother, His Highness, for the warm reception and hospitality which he and the delegation accompanying him received during this visit.
His Majesty also extended an invitation to His Highness the Emir of Qatar to visit the Sultanate of Oman.
