Muscat: The visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik to Qatar and his meeting with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, constitute a renewed impetus to strengthening the strong historic bilateral relations at various levels.
The visit will open wider horizons for the future of the two countries, especially in the economic field, one of the important pillars of Oman Vision 2040 and Qatar National Vision 2030, reinforced by legislative elements that stimulate investment with an attractive and encouraging infrastructure.
Both the countries have international ports, including Duqm, Sohar, Salalah, Hamad, Doha and Ruwais, through which they can enhance the existing cooperation between them in maritime transport services, loading, unloading and handling operations.
The two countries agree in their foreign policies on a number of regional and international issues, including the Palestinian issue, maintaining international peace and security, combating terrorism, encouraging dialogue to resolve issues and renounce violence, in addition to keenness to strengthen the progress of the Gulf Cooperation Council states.
It is hoped that the Omani-Qatari Joint Committee headed by the Ministers of Finance of the two countries will work to activate economic activities, reinforced by this historic visit, especially since at a meeting in 2019 in Muscat, they emphasised “encouraging joint investments in the fields of agriculture, energy, communications, transport, and tourism, banking, and education”.
