Oman gets its first industrial salt factory

Muscat: Duqm Salt Factory is the first project of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman that produces raw and industrial salt.

A statement issued online by Oman News Agency (ONA) said: "Duqm Salt Factory  in the Wilayat of Mahout in Al Wusta Governorate is the first project of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman that produces raw and industrial salt for companies operating in the oil fields."

Khalid bin Ali Al Junaibi, Executive Vice President of the Global Integrated Engineering Company, said that the idea of establishing the factory came as a result of the great demand for industrial salt by oil companies for use in drilling wells. The company invested OMR 12 million in its establishment.
