RAFO deploys search and rescue teams in Batinah regions

Muscat: Helicopter teams from the Royal Air Force of Oman are conducting search and rescue missions in the North and South Batinah governorates to look for persons reported missing or stranded.

Oman News Agency reported that the RAFO is conducting continuous search and rescue operations for stranded families across the governorates, because their homes were flooded by rainwater from cyclone Shaheen, or since their access routes were blocked by overflowing wadis. Helicopters were also called in to rescue four citizens in Wilayat Khabourah.

They were transferred to the local Royal Oman Police station, before being taken  to health centres for check-up.

The RAFO continues to undertake medical evacuation missions to help people who require assistance, as well as drop food and other supplies to people in North Al Batinah.

The efforts of the air force come as part of the plans drafted by the Military Sub-Committee for Emergency Situations Management to transport food and supplies to citizens and residents in the villages and towns of North Al Batinah.

This comes within the framework of joint coordination with the sub-committees in the governorates, under direction from the National Committee for Emergency Management.
