Muscat: Tropical depression Shaheen is currently concentrated over Al Dhahirah Governorate.
"The weather charts of the National Centre for Early Warning of Multi Hazards indicate that the tropical depression is currently concentrated on Al Dhahirah Governorate and is expected to continue its movement towards the west. It is likely to exit from the borders of the Sultanate thereafter," Oman News Agency (ONA) said in a statement.
Dr Said bin Hamad Al Sarmi, a weather forecast expert at the Civil Aviation Authority, said that the tropical situation is moving away, but the instability and chances of rain will continue in the governorates of North Al Batinah, Al Buraimi, Al Dhahirah and parts of Al Dakhiliyah Governorate. He called on citizens and residents to take utmost care and caution.
"The highest amounts of rain recorded so far in the Wilayat of Suwaiq amounted to about 290.8 mm, followed by Al-Khaboura, which recorded 167.9 mm, and a number of wilayats had a large share of rainfall," Al Sarmi said.
