Muscat: The classification of tropical storm Shaheen has been reduced to a tropical depression centred on the governorate of Al Dhahirah. The tropical situation continues to affect the governorates of Al Dhahirah, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, Al Buraimi and Al Dakhiliyah with heavy rain, the Civil Aviation Authority said in warning No. 8.
CAA's warning read: "The latest satellite images and analysis of the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre shows that Tropical Storm Shaheen can now be classified as a tropical depression centered on Al Dhahirah Governorate. Valleys will see moderate to brisk winds (15 to 25 knots) that may be accompanied with rain."
The chances of sporadic rainfall of varying intensity will continue in the governorates of Muscat, North and South Al Sharqiyah and Musandam. The sea will have medium waves on all the coasts of the Sultanate, and the wave height is estimated to be between 1.5 and 2.5m.
The Civil Aviation Authority calls upon everyone to take the utmost precaution and not to take risks by crossing valleys and to stay away from low-lying places, as well as not to go to the sea during this period.
