Cyclone Shaheen: Damage assessment underway in South Al Batinah

Muscat: The damages left by the tropical situation are currently being measured in the Wilayat of Barka and Al Musanah, and work is underway to restore the power service in the coming hours.

His Excellency Issa bin Hamad Al-Azri, Governor of South Al Batinah, confirmed that the damages caused by the tropical situation are being evaluated, there has been power outages due to a number of electricity poles falling in the wilayats of Barka and Al Musanah, and work is underway to restore them at the earliest.

His Excellency indicated that the roads in the governorate are passable, except for Al-Tayeb Street in the Wilayat of Rustaq, and it will be settled after the water recedes. Pointing out that the number of people in the shelter center in the Wilayat of Barka reached 174, of whom 44 remain, and in the Wilayat of Musanna 350 people.

In a statement to the Oman News Agency, Lt. Col. Abdullah bin Saeed Al Muqbali, Director of Operations at the South Al Batinah Governorate Police Command, confirmed that in general the situation of the tropical situation Shaheen is currently stable at the level of the governorate’s wilayats with the flow of a number of valleys, noting that the civil defence and rescue teams are interacting with all incoming communications.
