Muscat: An operation room has been set up by Muscat Municipality to monitor the impact of Shaheen, and take action accordingly.

The room, which is set up in Seeb, will act as the centre of operations of the municipality’s response to the storm, which could include the deployment of field teams to provide services where required across the wilayat.

"Muscat Municipality in the Wilayat of Seeb is preparing an operations room at its headquarters in the wilayat to take the necessary measures and distribute field work teams to respond to emergencies," the municipality said in a statement.

During the storm, services provided through the municipality’s website and app are on hold. Users will be notified once they are back in operation.

The municipality also asked people to stay particularly cautious of pools of water collected near electricity poles, as those who step in them could risk electrocution. The call centre and emergency operations room can be contacted on 1111.
