Muscat: More than one-third of people eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations have been inoculated in nearly the last three months, as Oman’s vaccination drive gathers speed.
According to data from the Ministry of Health, about five per cent of people were vaccinated as of April 18, 2021, which rose up to 38 per cent on July 12, 2021.
1,359,065 people have been provided COVID-19 vaccinations since the start of the country’s national immunisation campaign.
1,081,547 people have been vaccinated with the first dose – amounting to 80 per cent of those who have been inoculated within target groups, while a further 272,141 people have received both doses.
“The Ministry of Health continues to run its campaigns to vaccinate the target groups with vaccines, against the coronavirus in all governorates of Oman under the national campaign for immunisation,” said a statement from the Oman News Agency.
Immunisation centres continue to witness good turnout of people, who have queued up to be injected, since the early morning. ONA added that this reflected the great societal awareness about the importance of immunisation against COVID-19.
