If you travel to Khabourah in the North Batinah governorate do visit Wadi Al Hawasnah. Known for lush, green oases,Khabourah is located about 176 km from Muscat.
Khabourah stretches from the borders of Wilayat of Saham in the north to the Wilayat of Al Suwaiq southward for 20 km and extends to the Governorate of Al Dhahirah in the west. Al Khabourah is bounded on the east by the Sea of Oman for almost 90 km, and is divided by (Muscat-Khatmat Milaha) main road.
“Wadi Al Hawasnah impresses with its mix of natural water pools, ancient forts and geological surprises such as mountains of ophiolite rock," says Oman's Ministry of Tourism.. Set between the coastal Wilayat of Al Khabourah and Ibri, Wadi Al Hawasnah impresses the tourists.
While all the wadis in Oman are known for its lush greenery, Wadi Al Hawasnah is known for its unique geological formations. One can actually see those rock formations that were originally found on the bottom of the ocean.The other prominent wadis at Khabourah are Wadi al Sarmi, Wadi Shafan, Wadi Halhal, Wadi Miha Bani Kayoum and Sanaa Bani Ghafir.
