ROP quashes rumours on checking of vehicles

Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has quashed a rumour being circulated on social media, which states that the ROP is stopping vehicles with more than one person onboard and asking for ID cards to prove that the persons are from the same family.

In a statement, the ROP said, "The ROP draws attention to the inaccuracy of this information attributed to Major Mohammad Al Hashami. There are no directives to stop vehicles with more than one person and asking them to show ID cards to prove that they are from the same family.

“The Royal Oman Police warns against circulation of false news and asks everyone to ensure authenticity before publishing,” the statement added.
