ROP and PACDA help in controlling tree fire

Muscat: The Environment Authority has expressed its gratitude and thanks for efforts made by the Royal Oman Police and the Public Authority for Civil Defense and Ambulance (PACDA) for their prompt response and cooperation in dealing with a perennial Sidr tree which caught fire in the Wilayat of Al Amerat.

A statement issued online by Environment Authority said :"The Environment Authority expresses its gratitude and thanks for the efforts made by the Royal Oman Police and the Public Authority for Civil Defense for their prompt response and cooperation in dealing with a burning perennial Sidr tree in the Wilayat of Al Amerat yesterday."

"The authority expresses its regret at the recurrence of such incidents of burning perennial trees due to the recklessness of a group of tourists by lighting a cooking fire near these trees and their indifference to extinguishing the fire when they left the site."

"The authority calls on everyone to the need to preserve the natural resources of the Sultanate, especially the perennial trees that are difficult to replace, and calls for submitting reports related to violations of the Omani environment via the hotline: 80071999," the statement added.
