Upto OMR 15,000 fine, jail term for IPR violations in Oman

Muscat: A maximum jail term of 3 years and a fine of up to OMR 15,000 will be the punishment for anyone who infringes a legally protected right of an author, a holder of a neighbouring right or an industrial property right by using the internet or any means of information technology.

A statement issued online by Public Prosecution said: "Using the internet or means of information technology to infringe a legally protected right of an author, a holder of a neighbouring right or an industrial property right is an offense punishable with imprisonment for a period that extends to 3 years and a fine up to OMR 15,000."
