Temperatures touch nearly 35 degrees in some parts of Oman

Muscat: Although February hasn’t come to an end just yet, parts of Oman are already experiencing temperatures of nearly 35 degrees Celsius: a clear sign that warmer days are ahead of us.

Joba, near Muhut in the Governorate of Al Wusta, recorded the highest temperature in the country on Sunday, 28 February, at 34.6 degrees, according to the Directorate General of Meteorology at the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

Mudhaibi was a close second at 34.5 degrees, followed by Bidiyah (34.4. degrees) and Salalah (34.1 degrees). Al Qabil recorded temperatures of 33.8 degrees Celsius.

The village of Saiq in the foothills near Jabal Akhdar was the coldest place in the country, reporting temperatures of just 9.2 degrees. It was the only place to record temperatures in single digits. Dhank (10.2 degrees), Yanqul (10.5 degrees), Mhadhah (10.8 degrees) and Sunaynah (11.7 degrees) are all among the coldest places to be on Sunday.

The capital, Muscat, meanwhile, reported lows of 22 degrees and a high of 26 degrees Celsius.
