Muscat: The Royal Navy of Oman’s vessel “Shabab Oman II” docked at the Port of Le Havre in the French city of Le Havre as part of its tenth stop on its seventh international voyage. The journey embodies the ship’s mission to spread messages of love and peace across nations, highlight Oman’s maritime heritage, and reinforce the deep-rooted historical ties between the Sultanate of Oman and the Republic of France.
Upon arrival at the Port of Le Havre, the ship was received by His Excellency Dr. Ghanim bin Mohammed Al-Lamki, the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to France, Engineer Khalid bin Suleiman Al-Farsi, the Military Attaché at the Embassy of Oman, along with several members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the organising committee for the Le Havre Sailing Festival, and members of the local public.
The ship’s participation in the Le Havre Sailing Festival will span from July 4 to July 7. Activities include military musical performances, visual presentations highlighting Oman’s maritime history, and guided tours aboard the vessel. The program also features meetings with local officials and participation in sailing competitions alongside cultural and artistic events.
The ship will open its doors to visitors, further reinforcing its cultural and humanitarian role in building bridges of friendship and cooperation between Oman and the rest of the world. Through this initiative, it aims to introduce Oman’s cultural identity, showcasing its proud maritime legacy and deeply rooted traditions.
It is noteworthy that “Shabab Oman II” will visit three continents, making stops at 14 ports in 15 different countries. The vessel is also set to compete in this year’s international long-distance sailing race, starting from Le Havre and proceeding through ports including Dunkirk in France, Aberdeen in Scotland, Kristiansand in Norway, and finally Esbjerg in Denmark, marking the fourth and final stage of the race.
In addition, the ship will take part in the Bremerhaven Sailing Festival in Germany and the Amsterdam Sailing Festival in the Netherlands, in a journey that exemplifies Oman’s vibrant presence in global maritime gatherings.
