Online gamblers to face imprisonment, hefty fines in Oman

Muscat: Imprisonment of upto 3 years and/or a fine of OMR 3,000 will be imposed on anyone using the internet or means of information technology  to gamble or to produce, disseminate, distribute, purchase or possess anything that construes or an attack on public morality.

A statement issued online by Public Prosecution said: "Using the internet or means of information technology to gamble or to produce, disseminate, distribute, purchase or possess anything that construes or an attack on public morality, violates the same or promotes programs, ideas or activities that construe the same, is an offense punishable by imprisonment for a period that extends to three years and a fine upto OMR 3,000 or by either one of these two sentences. "
