Muscat: Liwa Slaughterhouse project, which is funded by Vale Oman with a social investment of OMR 400,000, is expected to be operational by the year-end.
It will be run by the Office of the Governor of North Al Batina and it will serve citizens and residents from the wilayat of Liwa and the neighbouring wilayats.
Vale Oman management conducted an inspection visit to the Liwa Slaughterhouse project that has reached a 90 per cent completion.
Liwa Slaughterhouse project is one of the sustainable social development initiatives implemented by Jusoor Foundation, the non-profit Social Responsibility arm of Sohar Aluminium, Vale Oman and OQ.
This project has been established over an area of 1,160 square metres and is equipped with automatic skinning and butchering machines, male and female waiting areas, storing and cooling areas, a prayer room, as well as a veterinarian room. An external cattle barn has been made available to ease the accessibility to livestock by the slaughterhouse customers. All the necessary safety and hygiene measures have been taken into account.
“The project is an example of constructive cooperation and concerted efforts between the private sector and government institutions, which aim to deliver social services and achieve sustainable development,” Saleh bin Abdullah Al Musalhi, Deputy Chief Executive Officer at Vale Oman said.
“The project will act as an enhancement for the health and environmental and is deemed to be a translation of Vale's keenness to strengthen partnership with the local community and build a close relationship with stakeholders,” Al Musalhi added.
