Natural gas production in Oman reaches 34.97bn cubic metres

Muscat: The Sultanate of Oman's natural gas production—including local production and imports—witnessed a 6.4 percent growth by the end of July 2026, reaching 34.97 billion cubic metres, compared to 32.87 billion cubic metres during the corresponding period in 2025.

Data issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed a 7.8 percent increase in the production of associated gas by the end of July 2026, reaching 7.87 billion cubic metres, compared to 7.30 billion cubic metres during the same period of the previous year.

The production of non-associated gas (including imports) also rose by 6 percent, amounting to 27.10 billion cubic metres by the end of July 2026, compared to 25.57 billion cubic metres during the corresponding period in 2025.

In terms of consumption, natural gas consumption in industrial projects increased by 5.9 percent, reaching 17.33 billion cubic metres by the end of July 2026, compared to 16.37 billion cubic metres during the same period in 2025.

Gas consumption in power generation plants also increased by 13.7 percent, reaching 10.007 billion cubic metres by the end of July 2026, compared to 8.80 billion cubic metres during the corresponding period in 2025.

Conversely, gas consumption in oil fields (including losses, meter discrepancies, and shrinkage factors) decreased by 0.2 percent, reaching  7.52 billion cubic metres by the end of July 2026, compared to 7.5 billion cubic metres during the same period in 2025.

Furthermore, gas consumption in industrial areas (including industrial estates and the consumption of the Oman LNG Company) declined by 31.2 percent, reaching 111 million cubic metres by the end of July 2026, compared to 161.40 million cubic metres during the corresponding period in 2025.
