Over 360,000 expat workers left Oman by end of September

Muscat: Over 360,000 expat workers have left Oman until the end of September 2020, according to a report issued by the National Centre for Statistics (NCSI).

According to the monthly report from January till September 263,392 expats workers left the country.

The NCSI data shows that by the end of 2019, there were 1,712,798 expats workers registered in the private and public sector in Oman and the number decreased to 1,449,406 by the end of September 2020.

Private sector alone lost 251,694 workers this year of which 92,000 of them left the country in the last three months, NCSI data revealed. The total expat population now stands at 38.4% (1,706,633) by the end of September 2020.
