Entry by Oman wins fifth spot in international photography contest

Muscat: An entry by the Sultanate has won the honorary award and fifth place at the 20th Biennial of Nature Photography in Russia.

In the competition, photographer Hassan Al-Ghailani won the gold medal at the individual level at the same theme with a picture entitled AL Alalan Tree.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth said: "The Sultanate, represented by the Omani Society of Photography, won the honorary award and the fifth place in the 20 Biennial of Nature Photography for Printed Pictures in Russia, with a total of 155 points, which is held by the International Federation of Photographic Art "FIAP" every two years at the level of its member states."

"Each member state shares ten photos of ten photographers, each photographer has one picture and the Oman association has participated in the biennial under title 'Views of Omani Nature' and they are represented by the photographer Hassan Al Ghailani, Ayman Al Balushi, Shazan Al Siyabi, Abd Al Rahman Al Hinai, Abdul Rahman Al Aghbry and Abdullah Al Hadrami. The FIAP photographers were Hitham Al Shanfari, Anas Al-Deeb, Muhammad Al Zadjali, and Qassem Al Farsi, and trees were the main focus of all the pictures," the ministry added.
