Muscat: A campaign to cultivate mangroves led to the planting of 1,000 saplings in Al Wusta governorate.
The Environment Authority carried out the campaign in which the specialists of the Marine Environment Conservation Department, in coordination with the Environment Department in Al Wusta Governorate, planted 1,000 mangrove saplings in Khor Ghawi in wilayat of Jazir.
This campaign comes within the framework of implementing the master plan for the conservation, management and rehabilitation of mangrove environments, which aims to increase mangrove forests and increase the biodiversity of marine organisms.
According to National Centre of Statistics and Information (NCSI) 3.73 per cent of the total land area of Oman are natural reserves.
